Creating alignment with company’s vision key to success

“Vision” is a staple in business and with more than 10,000 book titles listed on Amazon, there’s no shortage of “help.”

If you’ve been in business a while you’ve already got a vision.

You and your leadership team all see that vision in ways that are pretty similar, with maybe a few differences in interpretation.

The further you get from the leadership team, the bigger the differences. Even those employees who have been with you a decade or more almost certainly see the vision differently than you see it.

Those differences, no matter how small, are one of the root causes of many of your issues preventing you from achieving your vision.

How do you get everyone on the same page, with where you’re going, and how you are going to get there so your entire company aligns around a single vision?

The challenge with most of the 10,000 books and their “help” is that they’re academic — they present ideas, not

real-world tools to create alignment.

Here’s a practical, simple tool to create alignment in your business, one proven in the real world.

It starts with you and the leadership team:

Get yourself and your leadership team in a room together, and don’t leave until you all agree 100% on the answer to these eight simple questions:

1. What are our core values?

2. What is our core focus?

3. What is our 10-year/long-term target?

4. What is our marketing strategy?

5. What do we need to look like in three years to be on track to achieve our 10-year target?

6. What are the three-to-seven most important priorities during the next year?

7. What are our professional (and our individual) three-to-seven most important priorities during the next 90 days?

8. What are the issues we need to solve to achieve our goals?

When you all agree to the answers of all eight of those questions exactly, you’ve created an incredibly powerful, energizing vision — at the leadership team level.

Now you need to supercharge it by getting everyone — the entire company and every employee — on the same page.

The only way to do that is to tell them. You’re going to have to tell them often, over and over and over again until they understand the vision, understand their part in it, and are energized by the possibilities.

You unleash the magic when you do that — now everyone is rowing together, pursuing the same goals, and making progress in the same direction.

Align your people and vision using those eight questions and watch your issues melt away.

The tools and process for EOS are proven. There are more than 17,000 companies running on EOS right now, strengthening their vision, gaining traction on achieving that vision, and creating a healthy culture that routinely delivers an exceptional experience every single day.
